This is why I was taught at my first job using a register to do only 1 transaction at a time. So when he said I want to get rid of these ones, you had the change back, grab the ones than hand over the 10. You never mix transaction together. Like grab the $10 he asked for but hold it folded in your other hand when you put his change down. Then grab the ones and drop the $10 is a separate movement. The owner will make you pay a short, so always protect yourself and assume everyone is trying to scam you.
